The book emphasizes importance of road transport to most economies in both developed and developing countries. Road transport plays major role in movement of goods and persons within and across countries particularly in Africa. The book stresses the importance of maintaining safety on African roads in response to increasing spate of accidents on their roads and highways. The book specifically appraises Ghana's road safety policy response to 2007 Accra Declaration on Road Safety, which is an international policy. The book uses Principal-Actor theory to examine Ghana's ministry of Transportation relations with the lead road safety agency- National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) and other key stakeholders. Also, the book uses March and Olsen's Institutional Dynamics of International Political Orders in attempt to examine Ghana's policy response to the 2007 Accra Declaration on Road Safety to ascertain if Ghana's policy response is effectively shaped by 'a Logic of Appropriateness' more than 'a Logic of Consequence' or otherwise.
