Risk Factors Associated With Growth Retardation




   
The best global indicator of a child’s wellbeing is growth. Infections and poor nutrition or usually a combination of both, are major factors affecting physical growth and mental development. Growth retardation is associated with significant functional impairment in adult life. Young children are most vulnerable to under nutrition and face the greatest risk of its adverse consequences throughout the life span such as an increasing in the risk of morbidity and mortality.The health impact and financial burden of this problem have been well documented in literatures Understanding of the actual risk factor of growth retardation is important for formulate effective preventive measures in order to control this problem.
