High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The United States presidential election of 1892 was the 27th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 8, 1892. It witnessed a rematch of the closely contested 1888 election. Former President Grover Cleveland and incumbent President Benjamin Harrison both ran for re-election to a second term. In 1888, Cleveland had won the popular vote over Harrison but lost in the electoral college, thus losing the election. In this rematch, Cleveland won both the popular and electoral vote, thus becoming the only person in American history to be elected to a second, non-consecutive presidential term and returned to the presidency as the 24th president.
